Shell Petroleum Development Company of
Nigeria Limited, SPDC, has reacted to
Vanguard’s report of a retiree of Shell who died
while queuing for payment, saying it was not
aware of any death by a pensioner while queuing
for his pension or other entitlements.
In a statement yesterday, SPDC said: “We wish
to clarify that the Shell Petroleum Development
Company Nigeria Limited does not require any of
its pensioners to queue up for pension
payments.”
Shell also said that the person quoted as the
Media Relations Manager of the company,
Western Division, is neither known to the
organisation nor does he have such position in
SPDC.
It, however, acknowledged the existence of a
pending suit between the company and 26
persons listed in the publication over alleged
unpaid entitlements, adding “we cannot make
any further comment on the litigation as the
matter is subjudice.”
