Monarchs Lament 10-Yr Darkness, Lack Of Infrastructure In Imo Community

Monarchs Lament 10-Yr
Darkness, Lack Of Infrastructure
In Imo Community

Six Paramount rulers from Akokwa
Clan, Imo State have lamented over ten
years darkness the clan had been
thrown into and lack of infrastructure
especially drinking water in their
community.
The royal fathers in collaboration with
the Akokwa United Progressive People’s
Assembly have appealed to their
representative in the House of
Representative, Hon. Austine
Chukwukere to come to their rescue.
Making the passionate appeal in Abuja
when they visited the lawmaker to
congratulate him on his election victory
and his inauguration as a member of
the 8th National Assembly, they said
good drinking water had remained a
problem and appealed for his
intervention in the provision of potable
water.
They lamented that their clan had been
in darkness in the last ten years as a
result of immense neglect, stressing that
the development had crippled economic
activities in the area and pleaded for
restoration of electricity supply.
They also pleaded for appointment of
their qualified sons and daughters into
government establishments and
parastatals.
President General of Akokwa United
Progressive People’s Assembly, Chief
P.N. Ngoka who delivered the requests
of the community to Chukwukere in his
office, further asked for the
establishment of tertiary institutions or
faculties in their community.
Accompanied by the Secretary of the
assembly P.E. Ononuju and the
Chairman, Political Committee, Chief
Stanley Obidiegwu, the community
further pleaded for women and youth
empowerment so as to improve their
standard of living.
They told the lawmaker to use his
connections to attract Niger Delta
Development Commission, NDDC, roads,
solar streetlight and skill acquisition
centre to the area.
Responding, Rep Chukwukere said that
Akokwa Federal Constituency was the
most marginalised constituency in the
country and promised to liaise with
Governor Rochas Okorocha to attract
more development to the community.
He said that the State governor was
committed to transforming all nooks
and crannies of the state and that he
would give the needed support and
quality representation to the people so
that they will enjoy the dividends of
democracy.
