Get ready to see a whole lot of color in your
Facebook News Feed.
Facebook added a tool that lets users
superimpose a rainbow over their profile
pictures on Friday, after the the U.S. Supreme
Court struck down g*y marriage bans as
unconstitutional in a 5-4 ruling. Same-$ex
marriage is now the law of the land in all 50
states.
The social network set up a Celebrate Pride
page that lets members easily turn their boring
profile pictures into ones that celebrate the
historic ruling.
After visiting the Celebrate Pride page, you’ll
see a preview of what your profile picture
would look like with a rainbow filter. Clicking
the “use as profile picture” button will
automatically add the feature to your existing
profile photo.
While users have uploaded rainbow flags as
their avatars in the past to mark same-$ex
marriage legalizations in various states, this is
the first time Facebook rolled out a tool of its
own.
Facebook isn’t the only tech company
celebrating the ruling. Google added artwork
with the colors of the rainbow flag a$$ociated
with LGBT pride on search results pages for
phrases like “g*y marriage” and “same-$ex
marriage.”
